How to Choose a Hard Pistol Case

A hard pistol case should hold each handgun still, keep moisture out and give you a way to lock it. These are Seahorse-made hard cases with pre-cut or customizable foam, and almost every one is rated IP67, which our product pages define as waterproof to a depth of 1 meter for 30 minutes.

How many pistols?

• 1 pistol: the EG300, with room for a magazine and a small compartment for earplugs or ammo.
• 2 pistols: the slim EG85 holds two pistols and up to four magazines; the EG430 holds two pistols and up to eight.
• 2 or 3 pistols: the red-trim 2/3 Pistol listing has space for up to 10 additional magazines.
• Multi pistol case: the EG540 4-Pistol has pre-cut foam for four pistols and up to 12 magazines. The EG630 comes in 4, 4/5, 5 and 6-pistol layouts; the 5-pistol version holds 16 magazines.
• Your own layout: the EG520, EG530 or EG540 with Accuform pull-apart foam.

Locking and fit

For a lockable pistol case, the EG85 has two keyed Twist Lock latches plus an eyelet for a combination lock, and the EG430 and EG540 4-pistol cases have eyelets for a padlock or combination lock. The pre-cut foam in the EG85 and EG430 fits 1911 models with 3.5" to 6.5" barrels, the Beretta 92FS, Glock G17, G19, G23, G32, G38 and G43, and Sig Sauer P226, P365 and P229 models.
